Flushness – When Reduction Demands Precision

Flushness is a design principle that brings clarity, calmness and continuity to the fore. It’s about aligning surfaces, edges and transitions in such a way that they appear to be a single unit. Visible interruptions or protruding elements recede; instead continuous areas are created that harmoniously bring together rooms and materials.

Doors, in particular, help to realise the principle of flushness holistically: Flush doors melt into the wall, create a calm, minimalistic atmosphere and emphasise linearity. But the more reduced the design, the higher the demands of the requisite technology. Therefore, matching details, such as the high-quality and aesthetic hinge systems from SIMONSWERK are needed to integrate flush doors perfectly into the architecture.

TECTUS: The completely
concealed hinge system

The TECTUS completely concealed hinge system is perfectly suited to create a flat surface when closed. It incorporates rebated and unrebated doors flush in linear room structures, thus creating a minimalistic appearance. No matter whether its a residential space, heavy-duty door or entrance door – with load capacities of 60 kg to 300 kg door leaves of various sizes and materials are reliably kept in motion.

Thanks to the convenient 3D adjustment, doors can be adjusted precisely, while the maintenance-free slide bearings ensure durable functioning. In the Energy version, TECTUS also enables invisible, permanent energy transfer without the cable conduit performing a carrying function. The closed hinge body also prevents a view of the milling, ensuring that the technology works completely in the background - for an uncompromising, reduced appearance.

TECTUS FVZ, in which the frame part is offset relative to the door part, makes it possible to integrate a door with a concealed hinge into the door environment, rendering the frame invisible. In addition, the TECTUS A8 model enables claddings up to 8 mm on the door and frame structures, thus creating many new design options.

Making Design Statements with Glass Doors

SIMONSWERK offers the TECTUS Glass hinge system for glass doors. They can even be used to integrate elegant glass doors with glass thicknesses of 8 mm and 10 mm flush into the wall. Glass doors, frames, and hinge and latching systems are completely flush, thus creating maximum transparency. The high-quality hinge system is suitable for timber, steel and aluminium frames and enables simple and fast assembly without any glass processing.

Entrance doors: Flushness at the Entrance

Nowadays, reduction and minimalism are important even at the entrance door. To satisfy these demands, SIMONSWERK offers, among others, the TECTUS TE 680 3D FD model with a load capacity of up to 160 kg. The completely concealed hinge system is the solution for conventional, rebated timber entrance doors, creating a homogeneous appearance in the milling thanks to the sideways closed hinge body. The continuous sealing system also ensures maximum tightness, even in the hinge area.

However, SIMONSWERK hinge systems impress not only with their technical properties, but also with a large choice of surfaces. They can therefore harmoniously adapt to the most varied design concepts, while supporting the principle of flushness right down to the smallest detail.
